Is a web-only monitoring solution always up to date?

A web-only monitoring solution is not possible without data coming from a data logger. It is therefore not possible for web-only monitoring solutions to be up to date quickly.

Advantages of the complete solution (monitoring - hardware from a single source). It is possible to react faster and more efficiently to the market. Manufacturers can be implemented and monitored more quickly in a hardware and software solution (web).

In this respect, a solution based solely on a web-based solution can only bring disadvantages. It is dependent on third-party providers and their implemented manufacturers. You cannot develop it yourself and are therefore very limited in your creativity. You can only react and not act, i.e. be proactive.

Can a web-based monitoring solution cover everything?

Since pure monitoring is almost only an accessory nowadays, a web-based solution has many serious disadvantages. Among other things, they do not have the necessary hardware to offer energy management, grid control and direct marketing. However, this is a basic requirement for most systems nowadays. Therefore, only WEB-based solutions are dependent on third-party providers.

The advantages of an all-in-one solution are obvious here. Due to the all-in-one solution, energy management can be offered via the various interfaces (such as Modbus / Ethernet / RS485 etc.), as well as grid control, direct marketing and monitoring of the system itself. Regulators and controllers from complete manufacturers therefore offer the user a better complete package and the option of monitoring their system

Am I really more flexible with a web-only solution?

This cannot really be assumed, as WEB-only solutions often come with a very long minimum contract term. Sometimes up to 5 years.

However, as market requirements can change very quickly, the customer must be able to work with a contractual partner with whom a flexible contract term is guaranteed.

Is troubleshooting really easier with a web-based monitoring solution?

Since a large number of manufacturers are involved and this results in a considerable number of possible interfaces, troubleshooting is much more difficult, especially if the data error is of a complex nature, as it is not clear to the user who is ultimately responsible for this.

With a complete solution, on the other hand, it is much easier. In the event of a troubleshooting problem, it is possible to draw on expertise not only in the area of software, but also in hardware. Therefore, only one contact person needs to be contacted.

Is a web-only solution really cheaper?

That may be true on the surface. However, on closer inspection, appearances are deceptive. In a 1:1 comparison, the web-only solution does not hold up. With a complete solution, monitoring, on which the web-only solution is based, is just one facet of the overall package. In addition, with a web-only solution, a much longer runtime must be expected, as otherwise the lower price cannot be maintained.

Most complete solutions often offer a flexible price structure that the user can adjust in their favor, e.g. via the number of existing systems or in connection with a volume. In addition, users are not tied to long contract terms.

Can I not integrate third-party systems with an "all-in-one" monitoring solution?

Of course you can integrate third-party systems via an "all-in-one" monitoring solution. Many all-in-one monitoring solutions offer various interfaces that can be used to import and export data quickly and easily.

With a web-based monitoring system, can I be sure that I will always be supported?

This is open to speculation, since the solution here comes from two different partners who have nothing to do with each other, it can happen at any time that they go their own way at very short notice without taking the customer into account.

An "all-in-one" monitoring solution ensures that backward compatibility is guaranteed and supports the devices in the field. A portfolio change is announced well in advance and alternative solutions are presented in the event of any problems with existing systems.

More about Solar-Log

At the beginning of the 2000s, we started our activities in the field of solar energy as pioneers. Looking to the future, we recognized even then the increasing importance of alternative energy sources.

In view of the finiteness of fossil energy sources and the emerging increase in energy demand, we set the course for ourselves. In order to secure an independent power supply with photovoltaics, we continuously pushed the development of innovative and customer-specific energy system solutions.

Today, as an independent partner, we enable companies worldwide to efficiently and profitably manage the energy of their photovoltaic systems with reliable monitoring, and high-quality "Made in Germany" products. By these means, we are able to support them in making an active contribution to the energy turnaround and to protecting the environment.
